Book: Hell Yeah or No, “Change Perspective” by Derek Sivers

The Goal of This Post

To share bold ideas from the book Hell Yeah or No, by Derek Sivers; on how to live a meaningful and intentional life.

Part 4: Change Perspective

1. Assume You’re Below Average

  • Listen more. Ask a lot of questions.
  • Admit you’re still learning. Focus on what you need to improve, not your past accomplishments.

Think of yourself as a student, and your current actions as just practice.

2. Everything is Your Fault

  • You are the person who made things happen, made a mistake, and can learn from it.
  • You are in control and there’s nothing to complain about.

Think of every bad thing that happened to you, and imagine that you happened to it.

3. Love Being Wrong

  • When you’re wrong is when you learn.
  • When you’re lost is where you go somewhere unexpected.

If we’re not surprised, we’re not learning.

4. What Are The Odds Of That?

  • Everything is a coincidence.
  • Life feels more amazing if it has no meaning. Beautifully random.
